I have read online about various wake up issues with DisplayPort technology but none specifically with this monitor. Monitor using DVI (Asus VG248QE) will start up correctly - but the dell monitor will not start up until power cycled or alternatively the mDP - DP cable can be re-seated for the same effect

Too bad since I really love these screens otherwise, especially for the price.I am the new owner of a 2716DG Dell Gaming Monitor - but having a strange issue when turning on or restarting computer. In the meantime I'm off to research better monitors before my return window closes.

I'm curious if this is a normal function of this monitor with any HDMI input or possibly a behavior introduced by the adapter. Thankfully it only happens when they go into sleep and not when waking back up. It's rather jarring and would be really distracting to any OCD graphics type folks like me :) I suspect this same blue screen will be present when the system is powered off or during boot up, which is less concerning that having it flash every nth minute when the monitors go into sleep mode. When the monitors go to sleep there's a momentary BRIGHT BLUE screen for about 3-5 seconds before it goes black. There is one minor, annoying side effect now however. OK, pressed the DP to HDMI (Active) adapters into service and both the wake/sleep and connect/reconnect issues went away on both monitors.
